About the Role
GIC is seeking a highly motivated, high-caliber funds lawyer to join our Legal Division in New York. This individual will support GIC public market investment professionals across various departments, including External Managers, Fixed Income & Multi Asset, Alternative Credit, and Portfolio Execution & Solutions.
Responsibilities
- Identify key legal, regulatory, and reputational issues in transactions and non-investment related activities.
- Recommend and implement creative solutions for complex legal issues.
- Liaise with international and local law firms to deliver superior, cost-effective services.
- Review, negotiate, and manage transactions to close, including drafting and commenting on contracts.
- Contribute to teamwork and collaboration within the LCD team.
- Participate in global GIC-wide initiatives and projects as needed.
Requirements
- Law degree with strong academic results from a reputable law school.
- 7-9 years of post-qualification experience as an investment funds lawyer (private practice or in-house).
- Experience in corporate matters and vendor agreements is advantageous.
- Licensed to practice law in a U.S. state (preferably New York or California).
- Analytical mind with intellectual curiosity and knowledge of commercial law.
- Ability to identify legal risks and propose solutions while balancing business objectives.
- Good negotiating skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptable, resourceful, and able to multitask within tight timelines.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
