About the Role

GIC is seeking a highly motivated, high-caliber funds lawyer to join our Legal Division in New York. This individual will support GIC public market investment professionals across various departments, including External Managers, Fixed Income & Multi Asset, Alternative Credit, and Portfolio Execution & Solutions.

Responsibilities

• Identify key legal, regulatory, and reputational issues in transactions and non-investment related activities.
• Recommend and implement creative solutions for complex legal issues.
• Liaise with international and local law firms to deliver superior, cost-effective services.
• Review, negotiate, and manage transactions to close, including drafting and commenting on contracts.
• Contribute to teamwork and collaboration within the LCD team.
• Participate in global GIC-wide initiatives and projects as needed.

Requirements

• Law degree with strong academic results from a reputable law school.
• 7-9 years of post-qualification experience as an investment funds lawyer (private practice or in-house).
• Experience in corporate matters and vendor agreements is advantageous.
• Licensed to practice law in a U.S. state (preferably New York or California).
• Analytical mind with intellectual curiosity and knowledge of commercial law.
• Ability to identify legal risks and propose solutions while balancing business objectives.
• Good negotiating skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Adaptable, resourceful, and able to multitask within tight timelines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Drive and a strong desire to succeed.
