About the Role
The OBGYN Social Worker provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment, intervention, and support services to patients and their families within the Obstetrics and Gynecology department. This role focuses on addressing the social, emotional, and practical needs of patients throughout their reproductive health journey, including pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, gynecological conditions, and family planning. The social worker collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure holistic patient care and facilitate access to necessary resources.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment, intervention, and support services.
- Addresses social, emotional, and practical needs of patients throughout their reproductive health journey.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure holistic patient care.
- Facilitates access to necessary resources.
- Participates in case review to facilitate an interdisciplinary approach to hospital care.
- Completes assessments appropriate to the presentation of the patient.
- Completes safety planning with patients as needed.
- Provides linkages and referrals to community resources.
- Manages day to day assignments.
- Participates in health systems and community committees.
Requirements
- Masters in social work is required.
- Preferred experience in hospital social work.
- 2 years’ experience in the social work field.
- LMSW preferred.
- MSW with NY state licensure in 12 months accepted.
