About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to lead, inspire, and build a team within a beautifully designed, purpose-built environment, redefining exceptional veterinary care. As an experienced veterinary surgeon and leader, you will be responsible for the delivery of overall clinic performance, including clinical, financial, and people perspectives. You will have autonomy to lead the clinic within the Creature Comforts framework, supported by the leadership team.

Responsibilities

Ensure the highest standards of clinical care through good leadership and team engagement.
Direct and promote membership and client acquisition.
Direct local clinic strategy and oversee HR, recruitment, health & safety, marketing, and client care.
Manage budget planning and financial delivery.
Lead the practice and the vet team.
Spend 80% of your time clinically.
Allow all team members to work to their maximum qualification.
Ensure excellent teamwork.
Oversee clinical governance, identify performance issues, and implement improvement plans.
Direct education and CPD within the team.
Commit to and lead by example in evidence-based medicine.
Organize and implement clinical audits.
Identify new clinical opportunities.
Ensure membership is a key focus and direct team members to achieve objectives.
Work alongside the membership manager to achieve targets.
Create raving fans.
Ensure H&S policy is understood and implemented.
Engage with and contribute to marketing strategies.
Provide an excellent client experience with clear, empathetic communication and fully completed consent forms and estimates.
Oversee clinical and non-clinical client complaints.
Understand the Creature Comforts business model and KPIs.
Focus on time to break even as a startup.
Work within the allocated budget to drive financial performance.
Understand the P&L and influence its shape.
Utilize KPIs to influence performance targets.
Understand the pricing system and ensure all work is charged for.
Be the figurehead of the clinic and lead by example.
Direct, support, and develop the clinical team.
Lead on education, quality improvement, and clinical standards.
Conduct regular performance conversations.
Line manage the Practice Manager and the Head Nurse.
Develop direct reports through regular 121s.
Ensure effective cascade of information.
Ensure regular, documented team meetings.
Develop a culture of respect and inclusion.
Identify wellbeing issues early and signpost/resolve.
Adopt an honest and open culture, including the use of “Vetsafe”.
Manage debt.
Help the leadership team develop and mould Creature Comforts.
Promote the aims and ethos of Creature Comforts within the veterinary industry.
Direct team members to be involved in local community events.
Promote Creature Comforts in all activities.

Requirements

Experienced veterinary surgeon and leader.
Understand and be passionate about the aims and model of Creature Comforts.
Support and guide the leadership within Creature Comforts.
Directly line manage, support, and develop the vet team, the Head Nurse, and the Practice Manager.
