About the Role
Wood Mackenzie is the global leader in analytics, insights, and proprietary data for the energy and natural resources landscape. This role provides unmatched nickel expertise to clients, ensuring detailed and timely analysis of key opportunities and risks to battery and stainless steel supply chains. The analysis covers supply/demand, price fundamentals, geopolitical landscape, ESG, decarbonisation, and nickel recycling.
Responsibilities
- Provide insightful market analysis on nickel and stainless steel markets for short and long-term reports, including coverage of supply, demand, and pricing.
- Work alongside the existing Nickel Team, drawing on expertise to provide leadership and guidance.
- Produce original market analysis culminating in client deliverables and industry thought leadership pieces.
- Monitor developments in the nickel and stainless steel sectors, providing analysis on industry changes.
- Help shape nickel analysis and collaborate with the consultancy business on periodic projects.
- Contribute to the enhancement of regular products in collaboration with the Nickel Team and the wider Metals and Mining organisation.
- Analyze and model nickel material flows and allocations, and maintain this database.
- Work closely with colleagues in other Research sector groups, including the Energy Transition Practice, to shape the company’s integrated view.
- Provide clients with concise, timely, and insightful analysis of key industry trends and events.
- Establish and maintain contacts with mining industry stakeholders to acquire proprietary data and knowledge.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with industry contacts and research clients, including presentations via various deliverables, necessitating international travel.
- Effectively communicate analysis findings to clients through written deliverables, web calls, podcasts, conferences, and face-to-face presentations.
- Participate in supporting sales and marketing activities, including face-to-face events and webinars.
- Contribute consistently to consultancy or other cross-sector projects and help shape project requirements.
- Respond to client inquiries and ad hoc requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Make a contribution towards internal and external knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline (e.g., Mining/Geology/Metallurgical Engineering or Economics/Business etc.).
- Detailed knowledge of nickel and stainless steel markets, including supply, demand, and pricing.
- Proven numerical analytic capabilities, including problem-solving and technical skills.
- Presentation experience.
- Strong organisation and planning skills plus the ability to manage own workload.
- The ability to work as part of a team which may involve multiple locations and time zones.
- A willingness to travel to other company and client offices, and undertake industry site visits.
- A strong commitment to commercial excellence and meeting the high-quality standards expected by clients.
- Able to work in a global and virtual environment as the team is based in multiple locations.
- Independent contributor and self-starter.
- Collaborative with multiple stakeholders across business segments such as technology and consulting.
