About the Role

As a Director or Senior Manager in Financial Crime Compliance within EY's Financial Services Risk Management team, you will lead efforts to strengthen and transform financial crime compliance governance, risk, and control environments for major Australian financial institutions. You will advise senior risk and compliance stakeholders on significant industry challenges, working within a collaborative team that combines risk, delivery, transformation, and technology expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial crime compliance assurance, advisory, and transformation engagements across banking, insurance, and wealth management.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and risk leaders.
  • Identify emerging risks, control weaknesses, and improvement opportunities, translating findings into practical business outcomes.
  • Evaluate governance, risk management, and control frameworks for financial crime and technology risk.
  • Support clients in transforming financial crime operations using technology and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Apply data analytics and technology-enabled techniques for deeper insights and efficient assurance.
  • Lead engagement teams, coaching and developing junior members.
  • Manage multiple client engagements, ensuring quality, commercial performance, and deadlines.
  • Lead business development, proposals, and thought leadership initiatives within the Financial Services market.
  • Support clients through major regulatory, risk transformation, and control uplift programs.
  • Assist clients in other industries with managing financial crime risks.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of Financial Crime Compliance experience within Financial Services, with a strong understanding of industry-specific risk and control environments.
  • Experience within banking, insurance, wealth management, financial services consulting, or a financial services regulator.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, controls, governance, and assurance frameworks.
  • Ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders and communicate complex issues clearly and confidently.
  • Interest in exploring technology and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Experience leading engagements and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong project management skills, including managing competing priorities and delivering quality outcomes.
  • Strong report writing skills and experience presenting internal audit findings and action plans.
  • Experience using data analytics, technology-enabled assurance approaches, or audit automation tools is highly regarded.
