About the Role

Seeking a Senior Environment Artist for a 12-month contract on the Kaiju Cleanup project. This role involves shaping the visual identity of game worlds, translating design concepts into immersive 3D environments, and collaborating with a passionate development team to push genre boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the visual style, quality bar, and reference standards for all levels.
  • Provide guidance on environment workflows, including modularity, trim sheets, and procedural generation.
  • Review and sign off on finished environment work.
  • Model and texture a wide range of assets, from modular kits to unique props.
  • Create, set-dress, and polish high-quality 3D environments.
  • Work within Unity to set up materials, develop block-outs, and implement final art assets.
  • Embed Kaiju into environments, collaborating with Character Art and Design to solve issues.
  • Work with VFX and Lighting teams to ensure lighting fits the visual direction.
  • Liaise with the Design team to ensure environments support gameplay mechanics and UI requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Production team to align environment art priorities with production schedules.
  • Work with the Technical team to ensure environments are performant and optimizations are factored in.

Requirements

  • Portfolio demonstrating high-quality environment work on at least one shipped title on PC/Console.
  • Expert proficiency in industry-standard 3D modeling tools (Blender or 3ds Max).
  • Deep understanding of PBR workflows (Substance Suite preferred).
  • Extensive experience working directly within Unity, including Prefab management, ProBuilder (or similar), and URP.
  • Strong grasp of composition, color theory, and lighting.
  • Passion for working in a small indie games development team where collaboration is key.
