About the Role

Our Nuclear; Defence and Civil division is looking for a Systems Engineer. This role involves working closely with designers and other systems engineers, supporting stakeholder workshops, developing system architectures, and meeting deadlines for key systems engineering deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Support capture and translation of stakeholder vision and definition of the system's scope and boundary, along with its Concept of Operations.
  • Develop system requirements throughout the system lifecycle using an appropriate requirements management tool.
  • Support development of required system architectural views (functional and physical), including Functional, System, and Spatial Breakdown Structures.
  • Apply appropriate scenario modelling and role modelling techniques to contribute to capability assurance evidence.
  • Work with designers to capture and mature internal and external system technical interfaces.
  • Support identification and management of technical assumptions, dependencies, and constraints.
  • Develop systems engineering artefacts to support technical reviews and client deliverables.
  • Generate objective Verification & Validation evidence.
  • Support configuration management of the system design baseline and contribute to impact assessments of technical change.
  • Contribute to stakeholder workshops and provide data to inform reporting metrics.
  • Communicate complex technical content clearly to peers and collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Contribute to the generation of high-quality technical reports, presentations, and project artefacts as required by company processes and project delivery.

Requirements

  • Understanding of systems engineering techniques applied across the entire engineering lifecycle, with demonstrable experience in a portion of the lifecycle.
  • Good stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Knowledge of requirements development, preferably for infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge, and preferably experience, in applying a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach, including system architecture development against an Architectural Framework.
  • Knowledge of System Integration, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance strategies.
  • Some experience in use of typical systems engineering toolsets, e.g., for requirement management (DOORS, or similar) and architecture definition (Sparx EA, or similar).
  • Good written communication skills with a methodical, detail-focused approach.
  • Preferably experience in infrastructure projects and ideally the nuclear sector. Experience in developing complex systems in any highly regulated, multi-disciplinary engineering industry is valued.
  • Willing to work towards professional registration as an engineer.
  • Candidates will be required to apply for and obtain UK Security Clearance due to project sensitivity.
