About the Role

The Lise-Meitner Research Group Neuroplasticity in Development and Learning at the Max Planck Institute for Educational Research in Berlin is seeking a Research Assistant to contribute to understanding brain development and how experiences shape the brain. This role involves supporting cutting-edge research using fMRI and behavioral studies.

Responsibilities

  • Organization and administrative coordination of the research group
  • Budget management and support for fund administration
  • Administrative support for hiring processes, ethics applications, and other administrative procedures
  • Organization and support of scientific guests, and assistance with planning meetings and events
  • General correspondence and preparation of orders for study materials, office supplies, and lab supplies in close cooperation with service departments
  • Administrative and organizational support for the planning, execution, and documentation of neuroscientific and psychological studies
  • Recruitment, scheduling, and support of study participants
  • Maintenance of study documentation and support for data management and quality control of datasets
  • Coordination of student and research assistants
  • Creation of graphics, presentations, and other scientific materials
  • Literature research and creation/maintenance of bibliographies
  • Close collaboration with the research group's scientific staff and support in daily research activities

Requirements

  • Completed university degree (FH/B.A.) in Psychology, Cognitive Sciences, Neuroscience, or a related field
  • Experience in the organization and execution of psychological and/or neuroscientific studies
  • Interest in developmental, learning, or neuroscience, and in working in an interdisciplinary research team
  • Ideally, experience in study coordination and administrative processes in a scientific context
  • Excellent organizational skills and an independent, structured, and meticulous work approach
  • Friendly and service-oriented demeanor, with a high degree of responsibility
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills
  • High level of empathy and social competence in dealing with study participants
  • Excellent IT skills (e.g., MS Office); experience with REDCap or comparable data management systems is advantageous
  • Experience in an international work environment and/or working with children is advantageous
