About the Role

The Max Planck Institute for Educational Psychology in Berlin is an internationally oriented scientific institute dedicated to understanding human development, the factors influencing it, and their interactions. We aim to create conditions where individuals can reach their full potential throughout their lives by researching behavior, development, and competencies in relation to the physical, social, and technological environment. The Neuroscience Research Area is seeking a Scientific Editor & Communicator in the Director's Office.

Responsibilities

Provide linguistic and editorial support for scientific texts in English, including revisions and checks of argumentation, methodology, and terminology.
Translate scientific texts from German to English.
Assist with organizational and administrative tasks in the Director's Office, including travel arrangements, CV maintenance, report preparation, correspondence, and communication with national and international partners.
Co-organize scientific events.
Independently create scientific technical documents in English.
Support scientific publication processes and communicate with authors, collaborators, and publishers.
Create and prepare communication and information materials for scientific and non-scientific audiences.
Maintain web content and manage social media channels.

Requirements

Native-level English proficiency (written and spoken) and very good German proficiency (written and spoken).
Completed university degree or equivalent qualification through professional experience in a science-related field.
Proven experience in scientific writing, editing, or translating scientific texts.
Ability to understand complex scientific content and adapt it for different audiences.
Strong organizational skills and an independent, meticulous, and service-oriented work approach.
Interest in topics related to neuroscience, psychology, environmental or health research, and the history of emotions.
Experience in science communication or public relations is advantageous.
Experience in the scientific publication process (peer review, manuscript preparation, and communication with journals) is advantageous.
