About the Role
Provides engaging instruction, administers tests, and evaluates student progress, understanding, and proficiency in assigned field of Career and Technical Training.
Responsibilities
- Provides students with industry-recognized instruction and training.
- Develops and prepares lessons; recommends curricula changes and supplemental materials.
- Administers and corrects tests; logs and maintains progress and attendance.
- Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
- Manages the classroom by moving about the room to tutor, coach, evaluate, and assist each student as the need arises.
- Motivates and counsels students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits.
- Evaluates and supervises students in an on-the-job training experience.
- Participates in providing hands-on activities for students in the career preparation program.
Requirements
- Certified, licensed, or accredited by the State of NY, or by an accredited professional trade organization.
- Experience must meet the state or professional trade organization requirements.
- Must possess a valid and clean driving record.
- Reading, writing, and communicating fluently in English.
- Hearing and speaking to express ideas and exchange information in person or over the telephone.
- Seeing to read labels, posters, documents, PC screens, etc.
- Sitting, standing, moving about, or walking for occasional or frequent periods.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- Kneeling, and bending at the waist, stooping and reaching overhead.
- Retrieving and storing files and supplies; occasionally carrying and lifting light objects.
Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional strategies, classroom management and content field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- High energy level and ability to engage with students.
- Ability to quickly learn Job Corps methodologies and strategies.
- Ability to use different methods and mediums in delivering course materials.
- Ability to effectively respond to student issues as they arise.
- Proficient in the use of common computer software such as Microsoft Suite, Outlook, etc.
