About the Role
The Fashion Merchandising Faculty member is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction at the intersection of fashion, business, and consumer behavior. This role involves developing curricula that reflect current industry trends, such as digital transformation and global brand management, while preparing students for careers in retail buying, visual presentation, and fashion promotion.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach courses in Fashion Design and Merchandising to a multicultural student population.
- Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback.
- Provide teaching and mentoring services to students without discrimination.
- Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
- Participate and engage with the annual graduating fashion showcase.
Requirements
- Must maintain a domicile in the State of Texas while working for the college.
- Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, Adobe Creative suites and other technologies for the classroom.
- Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard.
- Appropriate use of the college's learning management system.
- Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
- Participate in graduation, general assembly, and other official college functions.
- Maintain regular office hours to assist students.
- Attend and participate in collegewide, campus, department, or other activities and meetings.
- Recognize and reflect standards of civility and collegiality in all interactions.
- Comply with published college policies and procedures and meet professional standards for teaching in a community college.

Experience Level

- Associate degree in one of these and 3 years non-teaching work experience.
- Educational requirements in accordance with SACSCOC accreditation standards.
