About the Role
Develop and optimize CNC milling programs and machining processes for complex aerospace components. Support production troubleshooting, tooling improvements, manufacturability reviews, and process optimization activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize CNC mill machining processes for new and existing aerospace components
- Create detailed CNC programs and manufacturing instructions
- Define operation sequences, tooling requirements, gauging requirements, and machine setup requirements
- Generate machine-ready NC code and support prove-outs on the shop floor
- Support machining operations for high-precision milled parts and sub-assemblies
- Troubleshoot tooling issues, gauging issues, workholding challenges, and inspection concerns
- Assist with machine setup and production support
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to improve producibility
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for manufacturing processes and equipment
- Review engineering drawings for manufacturability
- Recommend design and process improvements
- Estimate setup/run times, tooling hours, and manufacturing costs
- Support cost estimation activities for new business opportunities
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers, CNC Machinists, Quality Teams, and Production Teams
- Mentor junior engineers and team members
- Support Lean Manufacturing and process optimization initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in technical field with 3+ years of experience OR Associate Degree with 6+ years of experience OR High School Diploma/GED with 8+ years of related experience
- Strong CNC Mill Machining experience
- Experience with multi-axis vertical machining centers
- Experience with horizontal machining centers
- Minimum 3+ years of CNC programming experience using CAD/CAM software
- Hands-on machine setup and machining experience
- Strong understanding of precision machining processes
- Ability to support production troubleshooting and prove-outs
