About the Role

ADAPT Community Network provides services to people with developmental disabilities. This role involves providing medical treatment, first aid, emergency care, and medications under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team, assisting the Registered Nurse in coordinating healthcare services for assigned residences.
  • Maintain progress notes for each client and summarize for reviews.
  • Provide direct healthcare, hygiene, and health instruction to individuals receiving services and their families.
  • Manage communicable diseases and infections, reporting findings and implementing preventive measures.
  • Administer first aid and refer to a Registered Nurse or emergency services as needed.
  • Assist physicians with medical examinations.
  • Maintain a tickler for appointments, schedule appointments, and follow up on recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of examinations, immunizations, illnesses, and accidents.
  • Administer medications, supervise storage, and assist with ordering.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse in maintaining AMAP re-certification files.
  • Obtain consent for surgery in the absence of a Registered Nurse.
  • Refer consults and diagnostic reports to the Registered Nurse for review.
  • Attend and transport clients to appointments.
  • Attend team meetings.
  • Attend to clients’ medical conditions.
  • Carry a beeper and be on-call, responding to questions regarding treatment plans.
  • Stay informed about changes in the nursing field.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, employees, the people we support, families, and outside contacts.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of equipment typically used by persons receiving services, including wheelchairs and adaptive devices.
  • Willingness to work at various program sites.

  • $40/hour - $46/hour
