About the Role
Lead a team of talented engineers delivering the backend systems that power Apple Card and Apple Savings, helping shape how millions of people experience financial services every day. Responsibilities
- Manage a team of engineers building and scaling the distributed systems that underpin Apple Card and Apple Savings.
- Balance hands-on technical leadership with cross-functional collaboration.
- Ensure the team delivers high-quality software that meets performance and reliability expectations.
- Partner closely with product, design, and partner engineering teams to define roadmaps, resolve ambiguity, and grow engineers.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience building and operating large-scale distributed backend systems.
- Proven experience managing and growing a team of software engineers in a fast-paced product environment.
- Hands-on experience designing services for scale and performance.
- Strong background in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and API design.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and high-throughput messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, SQS, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders.
- Track record of delivering high-quality software on time in ambiguous, rapidly evolving environments.
- Exceptional communication skills, able to convey technical complexity clearly to engineering teams, partners, and executive stakeholders.
