About the Role
CASES is seeking a passionate and empathetic Supervisor for their ACES team, which specializes in serving youth and young adults impacted by the criminal legal system and violence. The ACES program serves young men ages 16-24, engaging those in high-risk behaviors to help them overcome obstacles and find paths to success. The program is expanding to Brownsville and seeks skilled team members who can envision a model based on the theory that young people can engage in positive relationships to change behaviors and acquire life, education, and employment skills. The team leader will support team members in developing transformational relationships with participants to support personal reflection and behavioral change.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support youth workers across the ACES program, including individual weekly supervision, regular field work, and case conferences.
- Demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with the Brownsville neighborhood and its dynamics.
- Hire and train new Youth Workers.
- Hire, supervise, and support parent advocates.
- Establish professional development opportunities for youth workers, focusing on CBT, relevant groups and workshops, and delivering effective services.
- Promote staff development and competence through training, coaching, and structured supervision in motivational interviewing, youth development, engagement, young adult learning, and trauma-informed care.
- Engage with Data Analyst to support accurate and timely data entry by the team.
- Collaborate with ACES supervisors to ensure consistent programming across boroughs.
- Develop programming with milestones and standards in mind.
- Ensure assessments and database case records are up-to-date.
- Support and enhance safety plans and protocols.
Requirements
- Deep passion for working with youth and young adults impacted by the criminal legal system.
- Willingness to be in the field alongside youth workers.
- Understanding of the community, its needs, and cultural dynamics.
- Belief that participants, community members, and team members have the ability and capacity for change.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience or 5 years of youth work experience with youth and young adults impacted by the criminal legal system.
- Strong communication skills, including a strong command of Microsoft Office.
- Commitment to supporting the team through difficult moments and celebrating successes.
- Active/valid driver's license.
- Ability to drive a 15-passenger van.
- All team members will wear ACES logo apparel during work hours provided by CASES.
