About the Role
The Director of Surveillance is responsible for the overall operation of the Surveillance Department, ensuring employees have the necessary tools and training. This role ensures adherence to state regulations for CCTV Surveillance Systems and company guidelines. This is a key level position requiring a key license, with the ability to make discretionary decisions impacting gaming operations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate surveillance activities for gaming operations, NYSGC, and cage cashiers, including audio/visual recording of count room operations.
- Oversee facility operations by researching, evaluating, and testing surveillance technology to optimize security and cost efficiency.
- Review current systems and recommend changes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.
- Conduct surveillance investigations, utilizing all systems and coordinating with law enforcement for civil violations.
- Coordinate and oversee investigations into allegations of employee misconduct, theft, or policy violations.
- Establish, implement, and monitor emergency procedures for handling emergencies like fire, flood, or bomb threats.
- Collaborate with operating departments to design and conduct sensitive investigations into potentially illegal or inappropriate activities.
- Review daily activity reports and provide direction for asset protection.
- Select, train, develop, schedule, and direct Surveillance staff.
- Formulate, implement, and educate on company policies and procedures.
- Attend periodic meetings and training sessions.
- Prioritize safety and adhere to department and company safety standards.
- Maintain industry knowledge through continuing education and training.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Ability to obtain the appropriate license pursuant to applicable statute, rules, and regulations.
- Ten (10) years of experience in the casino surveillance field.
- Five (5) years of management/supervisory experience in the gaming industry required.
- Knowledge of casino operations required.
- Ability to perform each job responsibility satisfactorily.
- Ability to lift or maneuver at least twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Ability to interact with internal and external guests in a professional manner.
- Ability to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as policy and procedure manuals and maintenance instructions.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries from employees or guests.
- Fluency in English required, second language a plus.
- Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and inference.
- Ability to create, read, and analyze spreadsheets of statistical data.
- Ability to decipher various reports and maintain reports upon request.
