About the Role
The Olympic Club seeks an Assistant Golf Professional / Tournament Coordinator to manage daily operations, member interactions, and coordinate tournament play. This role involves significant member engagement and administrative tasks within a private club setting.
Responsibilities
- Manage heavy volume of day-to-day member and guest interactions in the Golf Pro Shop, including member services, retail sales, counter work, and telephone/email responses.
- Organize daily starting times and flow of play.
- Assist with receiving merchandise, stocking shelves, and shop displays.
- Handle special merchandising orders from members and forward information to the Administrative Assistant / Buyer and Accounting.
- Assist Director of Golf, Head Golf Pro, and Assistant Head Golf Pro in administering and coordinating tournament play for Men, Women, Senior, and Junior events.
- Coordinate reciprocal club play.
- Assist members with club repairs, fittings, clinics, and camps.
- Provide instruction to members upon request, if PGA level 1 certified and approved.
- Play golf with members and participate in Professional NCPGA Tournaments.
- Maintain regular attendance based on business expectations.
- Adhere to all federal, state, local, and San Francisco laws and ordinances regarding health, safety, and employment.
- Perform administrative duties including posting member group website emails, ordering supplies, returning phone calls, and corresponding via email, fax, and phone.
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
- PGA Class A member with a golf handicap of 5 or less.
- Above average working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products and USGA Handicapping.
- Extensive knowledge in Golf Genius tournament software and other golf-specific software.
- Tournament experience and participation.
- Full knowledge of golf rules, regulations, and tournament play.
- Ability to interact with all levels of membership.
- Intermediate computer skills including experience using golf tournament software and member communications.
- Fluent oral and written English communication skills.
- Satisfactory results from a background investigation and pre-employment drug testing.
- Consideration for employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records per the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
