About the Role
The Manager, Business Process is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of accounting processes and technology solutions for HOOPP’s capital market investments. This role combines technical accounting knowledge with business process expertise to execute strategic initiatives, support new investment products and accounting requirements, and improve operational efficiency. It is a hands-on role balancing project leadership with execution, acting as an individual contributor.
Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and execute process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of IA&R processes.
- Collaborate with IA&R team members and business partners to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder alignment.
- Document current and future-state business processes, recommend improvements, and support automation and workflow enhancements.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews for further optimization and continuous improvement.
- Support the implementation of accounting and reporting requirements for new investment products, strategies, and regulatory or accounting changes.
- Assist in analyzing investment lifecycle events for new investment products to ensure accounting processes reflect applicable accounting standards (ASPE and relevant IFRS).
- Collaborate with IT and Business Solutions teams to translate business requirements into functional system solutions.
- Coordinate and execute user acceptance testing (UAT), validate test results, and support issue resolution prior to production deployment.
- Participate in investment accounting system enhancements and upgrades, including impact assessments, testing, issue resolution, and operational readiness.
- Research accounting and operational issues, prepare recommendations, and escalate complex matters.
- Lead the development of business requirements, process maps, operating procedures, and accounting treatment documentation for new initiatives and process changes.
- Provide day-to-day business process guidance and support for the IA&R team.
- Contribute to assigned project workstreams and support activities across Finance, Investment Management, IT, and external vendors.
- Identify and escalate project risks and issues on a timely basis.
- Build effective working relationships with business partners and represent IA&R in cross-functional meetings and projects.
- Support change management activities including communication, documentation, training materials, and knowledge transfer.
- Contribute to departmental planning by identifying risks, dependencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- University degree in Business or related discipline
- CPA designation
- Minimum 5 years progressive experience in an accounting role within the financial services sector
Skills
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Copilot)
- Proficiency using SimCorp Dimension (SCD)
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards relating to investments by a pension plan (ASPE and relevant IFRS), particularly with respect to financial instruments (including derivatives and marketable securities)
- Excellent leadership skills
- Ability to manage projects and collaborate in cross-functional initiatives
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to independently and collaboratively gather, formulate, and analyze information to support recommendations to senior management
