About the Role

The Associate Field Service Technician is responsible for maintaining retail store technologies, computer systems, and peripherals within retail and commercial environments. This role involves performing product installation, support, and repair on Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions and non-TOSHIBA retail products. The technician will diagnose and repair issues, perform component exchanges, and may handle equipment refurbishment, installation, and configuration changes. The role requires working under supervision until capable of unsupervised work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic repairs and services on products, including problem determination using standard maintenance packages, diagnostics, and documentation.
  • Perform basic diagnostics and repair, potentially requiring assistance from experienced technicians for complex issues.
  • Utilize established procedures for repetitive or routine work, operating individually or as part of a team.
  • Travel within assigned territory or nationally to customer locations for installations, relocations, discontinuances, and configuration changes.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, management, and team members regarding work status, potential problems, and customer satisfaction.
  • Build positive customer relationships with end-users and management.
  • Manage service events to ensure high quality and timely completion, meeting customer commitments and minimizing operational disruptions.
  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule work to meet Service Level objectives, with assistance.
  • Arrange travel plans in a cost-effective manner and respond to schedule changes.
  • Work varying shifts, including overtime and weekends, as necessary.
  • Accurately document installation activities in accordance with TOSHIBA standards using automated systems and reports.
  • Maintain and manage trunk stock to support customers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma with 2+ years’ experience in an Electronics field.
  • Must be able to travel 100% of the time, domestic and/or air travel.
  • Possesses basic knowledge of personal computer technology, network infrastructure, flat panel TVs & monitors, cash registers / point-of-sale equipment, and associated retail devices.
  • Requires mechanical aptitude with competency in electricity & electronics.
  • Ability to properly use test equipment, basic hand tools, electronic testing equipment and electric meters.
  • Ability to follow written or spoken directions and provide information clearly and concisely.
  • Good Customer Service skills are essential.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and work independently.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to recognize and understand the functional and operational use of IT signal and power cables as well as low voltage wiring systems and to perform diagnosis and repair.
  • Self-motivated and strong work ethic.
  • Display high ethics and character.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, dress, and behavior.
  • Problem solving and Organizational skills.
  • Ability to work long hours as project needs dictate in a physically demanding environment.
  • Ability to work varying shifts including overtime and weekends as needed.
