About the Role
As a Utility Locator Technician, you will locate and mark public 811 underground utilities supporting major fiber optic projects throughout the Austin area. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, and contributing to a growing organization.
Responsibilities
- Locate and accurately mark underground fiber optic utilities
- Read and interpret utility maps, plans, and construction prints
- Operate locating equipment safely and efficiently
- Complete required documentation and daily reports
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and teammates
- Follow all company safety procedures and industry standards
- Maintain company equipment and vehicle
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum 1 + years utility locating experience required
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to pass a physical examination and pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to walk uneven terrain including dirt, gravel, grass, and roadways
- Willingness to travel overnight as needed
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and participate in an on-call rotation
- Previous construction experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
