Responsibilities
- Take proper food and equipment temperatures.
- Enter customer purchases into the point of sales (POS) system.
- Process transactions with the proper tender (cash, meal plan, debit, or credit card).
- Enter all transactions according to meal plan, discount, and tax policies.
- Review credit cards, meal cards, and biometric scans to verify the customer.
- Make proper change when necessary.
- Manually record customer information and purchase for later processing when the POS system is offline.
- Answer customer questions about meal plan and purchasing policies.
- Notify customers of balances when they inquire or when the balance appears low.
- Notify the manager or supervisor on duty of any irregularities with customers and/or sales.
- Count and record cash drawers' beginning bank of change in a private location.
- Count and record the cash drawer at the end of each operating day.
- Place a beginning bank into the safe and send the balance to the Cash Office.
- Serve courteously and safely prepare food and beverages in a retail or residential location.
- Follow all food sanitation procedures to ensure food and beverages are safe for customer consumption.
- Assemble orders to customer requests following portion control and recipes.
- Use a large variety of equipment.
- Assist with counting inventory and recording product on hand.
- Inspect holding items for presentation and quality and remove if past prime shelf life or expiration.
- Perform a variety of duties in a single shift or work week in a number of work locations and stations.
- Perform projects such as deep cleaning, organizing, and stocking.
- Clean and sanitize work surfaces, customer dining and service areas, dishware, utensils, floors, and equipment, including periodic breakdown and reassembly.
- Use commercial strength chemicals to clean, sanitize, and polish.
- Remove trash.
- Secure facilities at the end of service.
- Assist in other areas with food preparation duties as needed.
- Take ownership for the workstation utilizing student employee support.
- Perform any duties as assigned, based on business needs.
Requirements
- Lift 10 lb. routinely.
- Stand for entire shift.
- Stoop, bend, push, pull throughout a shift.
- Lift 30 lb. occasionally.
Skills
- Computing skills to make cash change, take inventory, create # of pieces for a portion by performing adding, subtracting, multiplication and division.
- Ability to read on a level to comprehend product labels, recipes and safety instructions.
- Ability to interact with customers, coworkers, and vendors in a diplomatic manner.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to perform routine tasks that are directed to the workstation.
