About the Role

Morgan Lewis is seeking an IP Patent Prosecution Specialist to support patent prosecution activities and the preparation and filing of documents for international and foreign national patent applications. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Patent Support Services.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and files documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including New Patent Applications, IDS, Preliminary Amendments, and formalities.
  • Prepares client reporting letters and correspondence regarding formalities, Official Actions, Notices of Allowance, and Letters Patent.
  • Prepares and files documents for international and foreign national patent applications with the World Intellectual Property Office International Bureau and foreign national patent offices.
  • Analyzes PTO-issued documents for accuracy, such as filing receipts, assignment documents, and certificates of correction.
  • Prepares patent prosecution documents, including transcribing instructions, producing patent applications, correspondence, reports, memoranda, proofreading, redlining, photocopying, assembling, and distributing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of relevant patent prosecution experience, or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and assignments.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to participate in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Flexibility with overtime is required.

Salary/Compensations

  • For positions in Century City, CA, Los Angeles, CA, and Orange County, CA the salary range for this position is: $78,500.00 - $125,600.00.
  • For positions in Seattle, WA, salary range for this position is: $75,400 - $120,550.
  • For positions in San Francisco, CA, and Silicon Valley, CA, the salary range for this position is: $81,640.00 - $130,585.00.
