About the Role
The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an Assistant Supervisor / TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist 1, Virology & Molecular Pathology to maintain compliance, oversee daily operations, and perform clinical laboratory procedures.
Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with departmental, hospital and regulatory requirements.
- Function as Assistant Supervisor responsible for the operation of a laboratory.
- Oversee day to day laboratory operations, review quality control, performance improvement activities.
- Perform clinical laboratory procedures and examinations and any other tests or procedures conducted by the virology and molecular labs.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of quality control, maintenance and troubleshooting on virology and molecular instruments.
- Assure timely performance of laboratory testing procedures.
- Train personnel in technical methodologist and interpretation of result.
- Record and archive operation test and QC results.
- Maintain inventory and statistics.
- Schedule and assign staff to specific job functions.
- Assist in coordinating administrative operations for the laboratories.
- Demonstrate flexibility and perform other job-related tasks as needed/required.
