About the Role
As Head of Delivery Operations, you will scale and optimize the operational operating system of the DigitalService. Your mission is to increase the impact of our work by steering the further development of our operational processes from initial approach through implementation to successful project completion, ensuring our user-centered approach and innovative strength remain reliably and permanently effective even during growth.
Responsibilities
- Continuously analyze and develop business processes to enable project teams to deliver faster, more easily, and more reliably.
- Anchor pragmatic stage gates that provide security without hindering flexibility.
- Promote the systematic identification of recurring patterns and the provision of playbooks for orientation.
- Lead the team leads of the three established areas – Agile Coaching, PMO, and StratOps – with trust, empathy, and appreciation.
- Create the strategic framework for your teams to better interlink their activities.
- Introduce proven frameworks and best practices, sensitively assessing what fits the DigitalService and provides real added value.
- Create orientation through proven standards without imposing rigid processes, and help the organization learn from patterns of other scaling phases.
- Steer the smooth interaction between different organizational units.
- Reduce friction with a deep understanding of different perspectives, enable forward-looking capacity planning, and free up the teams' backs.
- Maintain a strategic overview of our project portfolio with your teams and further develop our controlling and risk management processes (scope, time, budget).
- Advance Delivery Operations towards initiation and act as a sparring partner in validating effort estimates.
Requirements
- Solid leadership experience in Delivery Operations or Business Operations within a digital agency, IT consultancy, or professional services organization (approx. 300+ people).
- Ideally, you have already guided an organization through a growth phase.
- Demonstrable experience with agile matrix structures in a professional services context.
- Appreciation for standardization and automation, optimizing processes to relieve rather than hinder, and sustainably promoting agile culture.
- Deep understanding of agile project controlling, resource metrics, and economic calculation of IT services at the portfolio level.
- Solid experience in leading and developing team leads, practicing a enabling leadership style (Servant Leadership), and strengthening interdisciplinary teams with trust, empathy, and strategic orientation.
- Enjoy translating complex administrative frameworks of the public sector into pragmatic processes.
- View colleagues as internal users and align your work with their needs.
- German language skills at C1 level and English at B2 level.
