About the Role
Under general direction, this management and supervisory position is responsible for conducting educational classes for special education pre-school or Early Intervention students, acting as a team leader, and supervising Teacher Assistants. The role involves assessing student needs, developing educational plans, and ensuring services are delivered with dignity and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Plans and conducts classes/activities adapted to student needs.
- Assesses and prepares IFSP/IEPs; implements and evaluates goals and objectives.
- Participates in student transitioning activities.
- Participates in Initial Evaluations and Intake processes.
- Provides annual educational assessment and evaluation in all educational domains.
- Prepares and adapts lesson plans, materials, equipment, and environmental modifications.
- Maintains records of attendance and progress; writes progress reports and other data.
- Ensures services are rendered with utmost regard for student dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Participates in activities outside the classroom as necessary.
- Serves as a member of interdisciplinary team meetings, Annual Reviews, Parent Meetings, and other required meetings.
- Attends regular staff meetings, student reviews, district meetings, and conferences.
- Supervises, trains, evaluates, and delegates tasks to Teacher Assistants.
- Recommends hiring, discipline, suspension, and termination of Teacher Assistants.
- Obtains approval, requisitions, and purchases class equipment and materials.
- Assists with transporting students between buses and building.
- Implements universal precautions.
- Assists with toileting, feeding, and positioning students.
- Attends supervisory and management meetings.
- Assists students with outer clothing upon arrival and departure.
- Substitutes in another classroom as requested.
- Participates in in-service training programs.
- Confers with director or agency personnel regarding programming or student handling.
- Initiates precautions to ensure work is completed free from recognized hazards.
- Attends parent meetings and confers with parents on program content and progress.
- Assists with curriculum development.
- Provides supervision and training to student teachers.
- Stays informed of changes in the field.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and appropriate software.
- Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coworkers, employees, children, parents, and outside contacts.
- Must maintain confidentiality of student records.
- Must maintain confidentiality of staff records.
- Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective measures.
- Must be available Monday-Friday, 8am-3pm.

- Bachelor's Degree and currently obtaining Master's Degree and/or Special Education Certification (qualifies for Study Plan)
Salary/Compensations
- $67,705.57 - $79,567.50 Annually
