About the Role
Sienna Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Cook to join their team, contributing to the mission of enhancing the daily lives of residents through excellent culinary services. This role is integral to fostering a purpose-driven culture centered on cultivating happiness in daily life.
Responsibilities
- Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
- Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes, and menu documents
- Providing prescribed diets at appropriate temperatures and in portion-controlled quantities
- Monitoring the quality of food supplies received and advising the team leader of problems and recommendations
- Assuming responsibility for departmental operations in the absence of the team leader, including menu changes, requisitions, and purchases
- Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members
- Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Grade 12 minimum education required
- A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
- Experience with cooking in an institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality setting
- Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario applicants)
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check (British Columbia applicants)
