About the Role

Hello Patient is seeking its first Head of Strategic Finance to establish and scale the company's financial function. This role offers significant impact, direct collaboration with senior leadership, broad business visibility, and the opportunity to influence financial planning, performance measurement, and decision-making processes. The position involves owning core financial planning and reporting, developing the financial model, supporting fundraising activities, and partnering with various departments to address key business questions regarding performance, investment, growth, and resource allocation. It is a hands-on position for an individual seeking substantial ownership and the chance to build foundational financial processes and models.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the long-term financial model covering revenue, headcount, operating expenses, cash, and runway.
  • Own the monthly and quarterly budget vs. actuals process, analyze variances, and communicate performance against plan to leadership.
  • Manage financial and operating reporting for senior leadership and the board, including KPIs, financial performance, burn rate, runway, and business trends.
  • Support fundraising processes with forecasts, financial analyses, diligence materials, data rooms, and investor requests.
  • Oversee external accountants and tax partners, ensuring accurate and timely month-end close.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, Engineering, Operations, and People teams on headcount planning, budgets, investments, and business cases.
  • Assist leaders in understanding the financial implications of their decisions and promote financial discipline in resource allocation.
  • Define and enhance key business metrics, including ARR, retention, gross margin, customer cohorts, and other SaaS and healthcare operating metrics.
  • Develop models and analyses to support decisions on pricing, new products, hiring, go-to-market investments, and other company initiatives.
  • Act as the primary contact for customer order forms and contracts, working with Sales, Account Management, and legal counsel on terms, approvals, and execution.
  • Build the Revenue Operations function and partner with Sales, Account Management, and Operations on forecasting, performance, and growth.
  • Work directly with the CEO and board on reporting, planning, and strategic decisions.
  • Establish necessary processes, systems, and reporting infrastructure for company growth.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial planning, measurement, and communication.
  • Introduce structure and rigor to the developing finance function while maintaining practical and lightweight processes.
  • Contribute to building the finance team and expanding the function's scope over time.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience, starting in investment banking or private equity, followed by strategic finance or FP&A experience at a high-growth company.
  • Strong financial modeling skills with the ability to build a model from scratch.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and deriving clear insights.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects from inception to completion.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with evolving processes.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Previous strategic finance or FP&A experience at a startup.
  • Experience building financial processes from the ground up.
  • Experience in healthcare, SaaS, or another high-growth technology company (preferred).
  • Familiarity with SaaS metrics and unit economics (preferred).
  • Experience supporting a fundraising process (preferred).
  • Experience with tools such as QuickBooks, Ramp, Rippling, or similar (preferred).
