About the Role
Amherst College seeks an Electrician to install, maintain, repair, and operate electrical distribution systems across campus, ensuring the integrity and functionality of essential systems including medium voltage, fire alarms, and building management systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform general and planned maintenance on primary and secondary electrical distribution systems.
- Execute work orders for system maintenance and planned maintenance programs.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Complete new installations for systems during space upgrades, renovations, or expansions.
- Respond to and execute emergency calls for all primary, emergency, and life safety systems.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Massachusetts Journeyman Electrical License.
- Over 5 years of experience in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
- Strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with or commitment to working with a diverse community.
- Successful completion of required reference and background checks.
- Acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check.
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical and lift test.
- Valid driver's license and successful completion of Five College Risk Management driver credentialing program.
