About the Role
Whisper Woods of Smithtown is seeking a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to deliver nursing care to residents in a home-like environment. You will be part of a supportive team dedicated to building community and fostering long-lasting relationships.
Responsibilities
- Accurately assess, communicate, and document residents’ status.
- Observe and report significant changes in resident behavior and health to relevant parties.
- Direct and supervise the daily work assignments of Resident Care Assistants.
- Mentor and guide Lead Resident Care Assistants.
- Coordinate care needs with community providers through case management.
- Balance service demands with supporting resident independence.
- Recognize and assist in the prevention of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation, reporting as required.
- Respond to emergencies and know when to call for backup.
Requirements
- Current state license as an LPN and CPR certification.
- Graduate of an approved LPN program.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience working as a nurse preferred.
- Previous experience working with the elderly in a paid or volunteer position is highly desirable.
