About the Role

Under the supervision of the Restaurant Manager, the Food & Beverage Supervisor will oversee all club dining areas, including casual dining, banquets, and fine dining. The role ensures a high-quality dining experience for members and guests by managing service quality, cleanliness, and resolving issues. Strong supervisory, leadership, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure members and guests are received in a welcoming, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Ensure all opening and/or closing duties are assigned and correctly completed by service staff.
  • Conduct pre-service employee briefings, communicating necessary information to servers regarding menu ingredients, beverage information, section assignments, daily specials, etc.
  • Ensure service staff are properly trained, groomed, equipped, and educated about the menu and beverages for all events to ensure superior service.
  • Describe and suggestively sell appetizers, entrees, desserts, alcoholic beverages, and wines.
  • Coordinate food service between the kitchen and service staff to ensure timely meal delivery.
  • Provide assistance with the service of food and beverages in dining areas and for special functions when needed.
  • Supervise and evaluate dining room staff frequently to ensure proper service standards.
  • Serve as the Club’s opening or closing manager or manager on duty.
  • Perform daily inspections of all table settings to ensure proper appearance.
  • Responsible for the security of items in the dining area (Chinas, Glassware, Silverware, etc.).
  • Manage reservations, ensuring special requests, including dietary restrictions, are communicated to relevant staff.
  • Handle all service issues from guests and members professionally.
  • Work with the Food & Beverage management team to ensure excellent services and adherence to revenue control procedures.
  • Assist with table clearing and re-setting of tables as needed.
  • Execute regular inspections on all service areas and equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and above-standard environment.
  • Ensure all safety, accident, and emergency policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed.
  • Ensure established rules, regulations, and policies are properly followed.
  • Ensure local, provincial laws and the Club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
  • Assist in dining room inventory assessments.
  • Provide seating plan, layout, and design recommendations.
  • Suggest decorations for special themes in casual/fine dining areas.
  • Suggest when additional service supplies and small equipment are needed.
  • Evaluate the casual/fine dining experience and recommend improvements.
  • Serve guests a variety of beverages including Wine, Spirits, Beer, and other non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Assist the manager with bar inventory on a monthly basis.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.
  • Enforce all safety policies and procedures to ensure employee compliance with OHSA and its regulations.
  • Investigate all employee accidents thoroughly and immediately.
  • File WSIB documentation within 3 days if an accident requires medical attention.
  • Ensure new employees receive instruction on WHMIS, job hazards, accident reporting, CPR, first aid, back injury prevention, Food Handling, PPE, Job Safety Analysis, and emergency procedures.

Requirements

  • Completion of High School Education (Grade 12) is required.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in the Hospitality Field is required.
  • Two (2) years in a supervisory position in the hospitality field is required; Private Club is preferred.
  • Smart Serve is required.
  • Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and the use of the Internet is required.
  • Minimum typing speed: 30-40 WPM.
  • Team player with a willingness and ability to learn; punctual; highly motivated, reliable with good judgement is a must.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be well-groomed, mannerly, and friendly.
  • Must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
  • Candidates 18 years or older may be required to complete a criminal background check.
