About the Role
The Early Childhood Assistant Clinical Instructor supports the development of future childcare professionals by providing hands-on clinical instruction, mentorship, and guidance to students in early childhood education programs. This position helps students connect theoretical knowledge with practical application, fostering the skills and confidence needed for safe, inclusive, and high-quality care for young children.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical instruction and supervision to students during practical placements in early childhood education settings.
- Observe student performance, provide constructive feedback, and support continuous skill development.
- Collaborate with Education and Career Services teams to ensure clinical experiences align with curriculum requirements and industry standards.
- Develop and support individualized learning plans based on student progress, strengths, and areas for development.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, conduct exit interviews, progress, and assessment outcomes.
- Facilitate reflective discussions, learning activities, and workshops supporting students’ understanding of child development and caregiving practices.
- Stay informed about current trends, regulations, and best practices in early childhood education to enhance instructional approaches.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students and childcare partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field preferred.
- Current certification as an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of practical experience working with young children in a licensed childcare setting.
- Experience providing mentorship, coaching, training, or instructional support within an educational or childcare environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of child development principles, health and safety practices, and inclusive childcare approaches.
- Experience supporting diverse learners and working collaboratively with individuals from various backgrounds and experiences.
- Knowledge of applicable provincial childcare regulations and quality standards.
- Experience with curriculum support, development, or educational program evaluation is an asset.
- Post-secondary education or training in Adult Education, Educational Leadership, or a related area is an asset.
