About the Role
The Community Services Worker - Clinical Instructor plays a pivotal role in preparing and guiding future community service professionals through comprehensive clinical education and hands-on training. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, mentoring students, and facilitating their practical experience in community service settings. The role ensures that students develop the necessary skills, knowledge, and ethical understanding to effectively support diverse populations in need.
Responsibilities
- Provide instructional guidance and supervision to students during their field placements in community service settings.
- Observe student performance, provide constructive feedback, and support continuous development of professional skills.
- Collaborate with Education and Career Services teams and community agencies to ensure field placement experiences align with curriculum requirements and industry standards.
- Develop and support individualized learning plans based on student progress, strengths, and areas for development.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, conduct exit interviews, progress, and assessment outcomes in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
- Facilitate reflective discussions, learning activities, and workshops that support students’ understanding of community services, client support, advocacy, and professional practices.
- Stay informed about current trends, policies, regulations, ethical guidelines, and best practices in community services to enhance instructional approaches.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students, clients, community partners, and placement organizations.
- Support students in developing effective communication, interpersonal, documentation, advocacy, and client-service skills required for community service environments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Social Work, Community Services, or a related human services field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in community services or social work preferred.
- Experience in clinical instruction, supervision, or training within a community services context.
- Strong understanding of community resources, social policies, and client advocacy.
- Post-secondary teaching certification or adult education training is an asset.
- Experience working with diverse populations including Indigenous communities, newcomers, and individuals with disabilities.
- Advanced knowledge of trauma-informed care and mental health support strategies.
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms and educational technology.
