About the Role
Strategic Mission Critical (SMC) is seeking a Mid-Level Plumbing Engineer/Designer to execute plumbing design for mission-critical projects, including data centers. This role involves independent execution of basic design projects and contribution to larger, complex projects under senior guidance. The candidate will interface with internal design leads and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Execute plumbing design for various project types.
- Coordinate with clients and design leads from all disciplines.
- Serve as the daily lead on smaller projects.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers and clients.
- Meet scheduled project deadlines.
- Utilize Autodesk Revit to produce detailed design documents from schematic design to construction.
- Perform engineering calculations for all plumbing systems (sanitary, storm, domestic water).
- Select and specify plumbing equipment.
- Understand local and national construction codes and project specifications.
- Travel to project sites when required (approximately 10-20% travel).
- Communicate clearly in written and spoken forms.
- Collaborate with departmental staff on various tasks.
- Mentor and train junior engineers, designers, and modelers.
- Maintain excellent organizational skills and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of experience in plumbing design.
- Proficiency in using Autodesk Revit for drawing development.
- Experience in plumbing design for larger industrial and commercial buildings is preferred.
- Experience in mission critical design is a plus.
- Experience working across the entire construction process (schematic design through construction administration).
- Experience with review of submittals and shop drawings.
- Experience with field work (existing condition surveys, site observations, punch lists).
- Experience with Microsoft tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
- Experience with Bluebeam.
- Experience in using construction management tools such as Procore and Autodesk Construction Cloud is preferred.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment.
