About the Role
As a Product Manager, you will own critical consumer-facing surfaces, focusing on how we reach, communicate with, and build trust with consumers. This role is pivotal in transforming challenging financial moments into opportunities for a fresh start. You will report directly to the Founder and CEO and play a key part in scaling the company from a single product to a multi-product organization. You will either own the LLM infrastructure for consumer conversations (chatbot, voice, email, text) or the systems managing millions of communications per hour (email, SMS, letters) and their experimentation engine. Both roles require setting new standards through opinionated strategy, experimentation, and building systems that empower team decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Own one of our highest-leverage surfaces: how we reach consumers, how we talk with them and how we earn the trust that turns a missed payment into a fresh start.
- Push LLM infrastructure toward a borrower experience that adapts to each person in real time.
- Build outbound communication systems that tune themselves, learning what to say and when without a human in the loop.
- Set a new standard with an opinionated strategy, experiments that prove what works, and systems that let the team make good calls without you.
- Decompose problems to root causes quickly.
- Decide with incomplete information and focus on the few things that matter most.
- Develop principles for immediate and future actions.
- Reason from data and design experiments that isolate cause.
- Push LLM tooling deep into your work.
- Build the skills and workflows the rest of the company runs on.
- Own a product strategy end to end that moved something real.
- Build 0 to 1 products.
- Set the standards that let the team decide without you in the room.
- Run tight loops, acting at 70% on reversible calls and adjusting as you learn.
- Get into the trenches to learn the ground truth and refine information flows.
Requirements
- You treat prescription before diagnosis as a sin.
- You never stop at symptoms.
- You hold an absurdly high bar.
- You know a couple of points is the difference between an average product and an exceptional one.
- You care more about making the best decision than about being right.
- You update fast when the evidence changes.
- You go deep enough with engineers to argue about the system, not just the roadmap.
- You love building 0 to 1.
- 5+ years as a Product Manager.
- You thrive in high-stakes systems, where legal, ethical and financial constraints sharpen your creativity instead of capping it.

About the Company
- Collections runs like an emergency room. We're turning it into primary care for consumer finance.
- We started in the hardest, most broken stage, because if it works there it works anywhere.
- 70 million Americans fall behind on a debt every year. Most want to pay what they owe and can't find a way back.
- We've serviced over $20 billion in debt across more than 20 million consumers.
- We see more people with charged-off loans each year than all but the top five US banks.
- They rate us about 50% higher than the banks that lent them the money.
- Creditors net over 30% more with us because we collect more and charge less.
- Most AI strips the human out of the work. We use it to do the opposite. In someone's hardest financial moment we make the experience more human.
- The more human we make it, the more people recover.
- Now we're moving upstream, catching people before they default and building across every stage of the consumer credit lifecycle.
- The one in collections today is the one who gets approved tomorrow.
- We're hiring product managers for two teams.
- We see these roles as some of the most important we'll fill as we scale from a single product into a multi-product company.
- We're widening the aperture. Collections gave us one planet. The rest of the solar system comes next.
- We've built the strongest team in the company's history.
- We love how fast new people make an impact.
- One hire doubled the effectiveness of a key machine learning model in their first week.
- Decentralization beats control.
- Speed beats perfection.
- Candor beats comfort.
- Writing beats the average meeting.
- AI runs through everything here. We built our own code reviewer that beats the alternatives. Our voice AI handles most inbound calls with zero hallucinated payments. Engineers ship 3-4x the PRs they used to.
- We operate at at every altitude.
- We build in person, at least three days a week in our office in Nolita, with a growing group coming in every day.
- Random run-ins cross-pollinate ideas. Face time builds trust no thread can. Building alongside people makes work far more fun.
Equal Opportunity
- As a New York City-based company, we are dedicated to transparent, fair, and equitable compensation practices that reflect our commitment to fostering an environment where all team members are valued and supported. We encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply.
- We are an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, age, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.
