About the Role

The Maintenance Shift Leader is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Shift Mechanics, supporting and improving maintenance operations by becoming the technical expert on all production equipment for the site. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing equipment, and leading by example.

Responsibilities

• Understands and fulfills the duties of a leader for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), all food safety programs, all health & safety programs, and all FGF safety programs within the production area.
• Works closely with operations departments to provide timely support and ensure operational targets are met.
• Trains, coaches, guides, and mentors existing and new Maintenance TMs.
• Ensures troubleshooting and repair are accomplished safely and efficiently.
• Completes maintenance-related projects as required.
• Ensures Preventative and Predictive Maintenance programs are executed as scheduled.
• Recommends additional training for shift mechanics as needed.
• Collaborates with the Maintenance Coordinator to ensure availability of required tools, parts, and labor for timely repairs.
• Promotes and supports Continuous Improvement activities in Manufacturing.
• Responsible for training the maintenance team on equipment maintenance, lubrication, and parts replacement.
• Trains the maintenance team on setting up production equipment on the line.
• Ensures mechanics maintain the maintenance shop and toolboxes in an organized and clean manner.
• Trains and is responsible for mechanics filing out the shift report during the shift.
• Responsible for ordering parts on QMS to maintain shop inventory and for scheduled repairs.
• Reports plant/equipment issues to the operations team (site leader, operation leader, shift leader, Q.A., Engineering).
• Serves as the contact person for Engineering support during the shift.
• Conducts daily huddles with Maintenance TMs.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 to 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with proven prior leadership expertise.
• Demonstrated leader who easily interacts with others and is adept at leading/motivating a team to meet schedule demands.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Simple mathematical abilities.
• Ability to manage difficult people.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility to work days, afternoons, nights, and weekends if needed.
• Licensed Millwright 433A and/or Electrician 442A preferred.
• Experience with maintenance systems and computer programs (MS Office; Excel; Outlook).
• Passionate about mechanical repair.
• Post-secondary education is an asset.

• $46.65/hour plus $1 premium for night hours and $2 premium for weekend hours.
