About the Role

KIPP Public Schools Northern California is seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician to provide on-site culturally responsive and trauma-informed mental health and social-emotional support to students. This role offers therapeutic services, outreach, and education on mental health and wellness topics within a public school setting. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting children and adolescents, particularly those who have experienced trauma.

Responsibilities

Provide culturally responsive MTSS-aligned school-based mental health and substance abuse services including individual, group, and family treatment, therapeutic case management, crisis intervention, assessment & treatment planning, clinical evaluation, and consultation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams to develop programming and interventions meeting client needs.
Conduct outreach and education on mental health issues to students, families, community members, professionals, and school staff.
Develop and maintain client care records using an electronic health record and SEIS, adhering to standards.
Participate in required training and continuing education.
Attend student services meetings (e.g., COST, SST, IEP meetings).
Provide crisis intervention, assessments, and triage for students.
Establish and maintain contact with community-based social service agencies for referrals.
Potentially coordinate counseling interns from outside agencies.
Perform other assigned duties that do not compromise counseling relationships.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field.
Registered associate (AMFT, ASW, APCC) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences, or qualify under the BBS 90-Day rule and have submitted BBS application within 90 days of graduation.
Licensed (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Familiarity with community behavioral health systems of care.
Familiarity with special education, IEP participation, and educationally related mental health services.
Familiarity with local community resources and services.
