About the Role
To assist in all functions of the Human Resource Department with regard to Employee Relations and HRIS system management for the full life cycle of the employee.
Responsibilities
- Provide support and training to managers on various topics.
- Assist management and leadership with employee relations issues, including corrective actions, terminations, HR investigations, and remediation.
- Track and monitor the random drug testing process and the new hire process.
- Assist in the interview process for various departments.
- Represent HR during new hire orientation.
- Assist with job fairs or recruitment events.
- Process workflows for employees in assigned areas.
- Attend staff meetings for assigned areas.
- Maintain and track the agency conflict of interest process and participate on the Corporate Compliance Committee.
- Maintain accurate performance evaluation records.
- Assist the Benefit Specialist with the benefit open enrollment process.
- Track new hire sign-on bonus eligibility and payment, employee referral payments, and provide information to accounting.
- Review and sign off on all new hire packets for accuracy.
- Review deferrals and loan entries for accuracy.
- Process internal bid requests and transfers.
- Accurately track key HR metrics including turnover, hires, and work injuries for assigned areas.
- Assist with processing data for the agency Affirmative Action Plan, Vets 4212, EEO reporting, and other survey data.
- Conduct Exit Interviews and prepare separation letters.
- Participate in Unemployment Insurance processes and assist in agency litigation related to employees.
- Maintain up-to-date procedures for all specific duties.
- Be cross-trained with Human Resource Specialists.
- Assist in the maintenance of confidential personnel files.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 1-2 years’ experience or an Associate’s Degree with 2-4 years’ experience or High School Diploma with 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Communications or related field.
- Two (2) to Three (3) years related experience preferred.
- Experience working in a role providing coaching, training and support to management.
- Ability to learn NYS and Federal laws related to employment.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
