About the Role
The Assistant Branch Manager supports the Branch Manager by overseeing the efficient operation of the branch, ensuring staff perform all operational functions correctly. This role aims to foster trust, service, security, and satisfaction among customers and staff, while actively contributing to branch goals and business development.
Responsibilities
- Deliver appropriate solutions to customers by understanding their financial needs and uncovering banking relationship opportunities.
- Open, close, and maintain all types of deposit accounts and safe deposit boxes.
- Embrace and facilitate change, acting as an early adopter of new practices and procedures.
- Assist with the cross-training of other employees.
- Advise customers on financial matters, including complex banking activities such as business accounts, foreign exchange, IRAs, and wire transfers.
- Keep staff informed and understand growth expectations.
- Operate the branch smoothly and efficiently with minimal support in the absence of the manager.
- Deliver a positive customer experience and lead the team in achieving performance and satisfaction goals.
- Conduct on-the-spot coaching for meeting and exceeding performance and satisfaction goals.
- Open and close the branch and assist other branches as needed.
- Utilize knowledge of security equipment and procedures, and manage emergency situations and staff absence coverage.
- Make sound decisions on customer issues, complaints, and judgment calls.
- Assist with employee reviews, interviews, reprimands, branch meeting development, staff development, and managing staffing schedules.
- Manage branch maintenance and coordinate service calls for equipment and facilities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of consumer loan products, take applications, and close loans.
- Assist the Branch Manager in overall branch management and supervise Head Tellers and Tellers.
- Oversee branch operations in the absence of the Branch Manager.
- Exercise check signing authority up to $50,000.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers, and outside bank personnel.
- Must be able to communicate orally.
- Normal daily physical activities include walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to read reports and use a computer.
- Occasionally lift 20-30 pounds (files, cash drawer, etc.).
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sales & referral experience
- Solid understanding of basic banking products
- Proficiency in teller line operations (transaction processing, ATM balancing, night depository processing)
- Knowledgeable of security equipment (video and door access systems)
- Good understanding of security procedures
- Ability to manage staffing schedules
