About the Role

As a Lead and Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC design at Henderson Engineers, you will contribute expertise to our six market sectors. You will integrate engineering knowledge with field experience from Henderson Building Solutions to deliver a unique client experience.

Responsibilities

  • Advises and mentors less experienced designers and engineers, providing oversight and technical guidance.
  • Takes responsibility for the success of those under their direct supervision.
  • Designs advanced building systems, prepares design documents, and performs engineering calculations.
  • Trains, mentors, and provides leadership to design staff, potentially supervising/managing others.
  • Involved in business development, corporate operations, and risk management activities.
  • Leads project and design efforts from concept design through completion.
  • Produces solutions to complex engineering problems and design challenges.
  • Ensures production of drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Involved in the development of tools, resources, and company practices.
  • Implements and reinforces design and engineering standards.
  • Oversees project and design quality through the quality review process and regular check-ins.
  • Provides final reviews for projects under purview.

Requirements

  • Lead Level: Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field preferred (mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural) and 11 years of relevant experience, or 13 years of experience without a degree.
  • Senior Level: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field preferred (mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural) and 15 years of relevant experience. Commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license may be counted toward 1 year of direct experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards.
  • Knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes and methods.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (e.g., IESVE, Trane Trace).
  • Expert knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards (Senior Level).
  • Working knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes and methods (Senior Level).
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu (Senior Level).
