Responsibilities
- Provide professional, friendly customer service and maintain a visible, approachable security presence for tenants, visitors, and customers.
- Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols and inspections of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and common areas.
- Monitor parking facilities, access points, and building security systems to identify unauthorized activity, safety concerns, hazards, and security issues.
- Enforce building access procedures, delivery protocols, parking requirements, fire-lane regulations, and other security standards.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergencies, unusual occurrences, injuries, and security concerns, escalating to management, emergency services, or law enforcement when required.
- Complete required life-safety, security, key, and facility inspections and maintain accurate patrol and incident records.
- Build positive working relationships with tenants, building management, local authorities, and other security personnel.
- Support building operations through duties such as key audits, tenant mail delivery, vehicle escorts, HVAC and lighting checks, and scheduled night patrols.
- Maintain a professional appearance and comply with uniform, PPE, health and safety, and safe work requirements.
- Identify, address, and promptly report hazards, incidents, injuries, and other workplace concerns in accordance with company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Ontario Private Investigator and Security Guard licence, maintained in good standing.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Ability and availability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and 12-hour shifts, with occasional 8-hour schedules.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Training and experience in emergency response, tactical awareness, and conflict intervention.
- Strong report-writing and administrative skills, including daily activity logs and incident reports.
- Microsoft Office and security systems experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of security systems, building operations, fire safety, applicable legislation, and municipal by-laws.
