About the Role
The Personalization team enhances music and podcast discovery through features like Blend and Discover Weekly. You will contribute to keeping millions of users engaged by developing personalized recommendations. This role operates at the intersection of machine learning, music understanding, and user experience, focusing on generating music sessions for adaptive and intuitive user control.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, evaluate, and ship LLM-based solutions for adaptive user listening control.
- Develop prompted playlist experiences focusing on music fulfillment and session generation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners in user research, design, data science, product, and engineering.
- Prototype and productionize new ML approaches at global scale.
- Build and improve systems connecting artists and fans through personalization.
- Contribute to scalable ML systems serving hundreds of millions of users.
- Promote best practices in ML system design, testing, evaluation, and deployment.
- Contribute to the machine learning practitioner community at Spotify.
Requirements
- Experience in machine learning and solving complex real-world problems collaboratively.
- Strong background in machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI.
- Ability to apply theory to build production-ready applications.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying end-to-end ML systems at scale.
- Familiarity with LLM-based systems and techniques for improvement (e.g., reinforcement fine-tuning, DPO).
- Experience designing modular ML architectures and writing technical specifications with product teams.
- Experience with large-scale distributed data processing tools (e.g., Apache Beam, Apache Spark).
- Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.
