About the Role
The Project Engineer assists the project team in the administration and management of construction project activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with job office setup.
- Prepare the initial setup of CMiC, including Submittal Log Registry and RFI numbering system.
- Prepare and maintain Submittal Logs.
- Assist the project team with the initial setup of PlanGrid to organize contract documents.
- Manage, set up, and oversee progress photo documentation using PlanGrid.
- Prepare and maintain RFI Logs in CMiC.
- Post RFIs and maintain the accuracy of project as-builts in a timely manner.
- Manage and maintain the Material Procurement Log.
- Interact with Field Superintendent(s), Field Foreman, Subcontractor Project Managers, and Material Suppliers/Vendors to ensure timely material deliveries.
- Oversee the contract closeout process, including O&M manuals and As-Builts.
- Create and organize all closeout binders.
- Attend project meetings and assist in the preparation and distribution of meeting minutes.
- Attend and participate in WEO Quarterly Risk Management (QRM) Trainings.
- Participate in WEO networking events.
- Participate in all PE trainings, including PE Boot Camps and PE Round Tables.
- Assist the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager in obtaining costs from subcontractors for extra work.
- Log costs properly in CMiC for the Subcontractor Tracking Log.
- Assist or manage documenting, tracking, and maintaining the PCI Ticket Log.
- Ensure the timely delivery of all project equipment and materials to the jobsite.
- Coordinate with the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager on subcontract award dates to meet material on-site dates per the P6 schedule.
- Manage the entire submittal process with subcontractors and the design team.
- Ensure the project team is aware of the storage location of all approved Submittals.
- Create and maintain a document log tracking every drawing issuance from the design team.
- Assist with the distribution of overall project schedules and 8-week look-ahead schedules.
- Identify conflicts in contract documents and issue a Request for Information (RFI).
- Find practical solutions to field problems or conflicts before issuing RFIs.
- Track outstanding RFIs and expedite responses, elevating critical issues to the APM/PM.
- Assist Project Superintendent(s) in providing safety orientation to field workers.
- Assist Project Superintendent(s) with generating and issuing incident reports.
- Collect all Injury and Illness Prevention Plans (IIPP) from subcontractors.
- Collect all Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) plans from subcontractors as needed.
- Collect Safety Submittals from subcontractors (IIPP, JHA, SDS).
- Assist in creating the first draft of the project's Site Specific Quality Plan (SSQP).
- Work with Project Superintendent(s) to schedule pre-installation meetings.
- Attend weekly Building Information Modeling (BIM) meetings and assist in developing a coordinated model.
- Document and take meeting minutes for weekly BIM coordination meetings.
- Design project required mock-ups and manage all project required mock-ups.
- Develop an Owner training schedule and manage subcontractor training delivery to the Owner.
- Video record and formally transmit all trainings to the Owner as part of the closeout package.
- Manage the punchlist process with assigned Project Superintendent(s).
- Follow up and document punch list work status.
- Participate in initial and/or acceptance walks with the Architect/Owner.
Requirements
- Four-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Basic understanding of scheduling and CMiC applications.
- Understanding of basic construction administration processes, including construction documents, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and material procurement.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of basic daily software tools, such as Bluebeam, Plan Grid, Safety Mojo, BIM 360 Glue, etc.
- Basic time management and organization skills.
- Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Safety Course.
- First Aid and CPR certified.
