About the Role
Columbia University School of Professional Studies (SPS) seeks candidates to develop and teach Raising Capital, a graduate-level course in the M.S. in Technology Management program. The course development process is online and requires two semesters, beginning Fall 2026 and concluding Spring 2027. The course will be developed for both online and on-campus instruction.
Responsibilities
- Develop course objectives that align with program-wide learning outcomes.
- Create activity maps tying course activities to objectives, ensuring industry relevance.
- Draft a detailed syllabus for review and approval.
- Collaborate with Instructional Design to develop course materials.
- Lead class lectures, instructional activities, and classroom discussions.
- Evaluate student work and assignments.
- Monitor student concerns and inquiries.
- Hold weekly office hours.
- Prepare, maintain, and enhance the course in Canvas.
- Complete Canvas training (for new Adjunct Lecturers).
- Attend program faculty meetings.
Requirements
- Graduate degree in IT, business management, finance, or other related disciplines.
- At least 15 years of industry experience with a focus on driving digital transformation and innovation processes in large corporations.
- Strong academic foundation in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated proficiency in subject matter relevant to the course.
- Professional experience and demonstrated success in an applied industry setting.
- Provide a CV inclusive of university teaching experience.
- Provide a cover letter describing interest and relevant teaching experience.
Skills
- Subject matter expertise in capital raising for early-stage founders and technology leaders.
- Understanding of the capital raising process, including strategy development, community engagement, and financing agreements.
- Ability to develop pitch materials.
- Proficiency in Canvas learning management system.
- Instructional design collaboration.
