About the Role
The Tower Service Technician installs, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs communications equipment on tower sites, including climbing towers up to 500ft and installing associated hardware. This is a multi-skilled position requiring expertise in networking, structured cabling, and/or radio systems to support wireless infrastructure, data communications, and telecom services.
Responsibilities
- Installation and service of PTP and PTMP wireless systems
- Installation and testing of structured cabling (Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 6A, Fiber Optic)
- Programming and diagnostics of radio communications systems
- Proficient with test equipment such as multimeters, watt meters, antenna diagnostics tools, and DTF
- Experience with tower climbing, rigging systems, and fall protection procedures
- Ability to read and interpret telecommunication drawings and engineering documentation
- Site surveys and tower inspections
- Towing and deploying portable towers and trailers
- Other duties as required
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in tower and/or telecommunications work
- Experience with hand and power tools, testing equipment, and installation materials
- Knowledge of telecom networking requirements and standards
- Ability to work safely at heights and in hazardous environments
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Full, valid, and current driver’s license
- Clean 5-year driver’s abstract
- Clear Criminal Background Check
- Successful completion of a Pre-Access Drug & Alcohol test, with ongoing random testing as required by clients
