About the Role

The Trading Associate Program is designed to immerse associates in the Global Trading Team, assisting with trade facilitation, improving operational ease, and developing trading skills, primarily focusing on fixed income markets. This is a 3-4 year program, after which incumbents typically pursue graduate school or other opportunities within or outside MFS.

Responsibilities

• Back up traders across diverse fixed income asset classes, including emerging markets, FX, rates, and credit.
• Develop internal and external relationships with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, Traders, and Sales teams.
• Contribute to improvements in information sourcing, consumption, and distribution to enhance liquidity opportunities and achieve best execution.
• Develop trading skills, including negotiation and relationship building.
• Collaborate with Systematic Trading, Trading Solutions Strategy, Global Technology, and Investment Operations teams to integrate technology, analytics, and improve workflows.
• Develop analytic and quantitative skills.
• Work with Trading Assistants to improve efficiencies and scale, including assisting with training and development.
• Assist with front-to-back processing of trades.
• Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Familiarity with capital markets.
• Ability to interact effectively in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize job responsibilities.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, including listening.
• Flexibility and team orientation.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings.
• Ability to travel to attend internal and external meetings.
• Ability to cover either UK or US hours as required.

Skills

• Python or another programming language preferred.
• Pandas a plus.
• Bloomberg and analytics platforms knowledge a plus.
