About the Role
The Assistant Nurse Manager provides primary support for the direction and coordination of nursing care within a specific patient care area. This role involves collaborating on assessment, evaluation, daily operations, and planning for nursing care, working closely with the Unit Leadership team to supervise and evaluate program operations and patient care delivery. Responsibilities include staff hiring and evaluation, setting nursing standards, coordinating patient services, organizational planning, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering staff professional growth through clinical coaching.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates in the assessment, evaluation, daily operations, and planning for nursing care in the clinical area.
- Works collaboratively with the Unit Leadership team to plan for, supervise and evaluate all program operations and patient care delivery.
- Participates in hiring and evaluation of staff.
- Sets and maintains standards of nursing care and practice.
- Coordinates service for patients.
- Engages in organizational planning.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provides professional growth of staff and clinical coaching on the unit and bedside.
- Shares joint responsibility for all outcomes of the unit, including patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and fiscal responsibility.
Requirements
- Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
- AHA-BLS is required or current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to date of renewal.
- Demonstrates leadership with good oral and written communication skills.
- Critical Care: Current ACLS, critical care course within 2 months required.
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant clinical experience determined by the Associate Vice President or Vice President required.
- As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of patients for which care is being provided.

Benefits
- AHA-BLS certification is required however, certification is not a qualifying factor to obtain the position.
- Certification in specialty preferred or active involvement with completion within twelve (12) months.
