About the Role
As an Industrial/Maintenance Electrician 442A/309A, you will contribute to the company’s operational performance through maintenance program compliance and work order management, including reactive, corrective, and preventative maintenance for all technical and non-technical components. Two positions are available: one for the Afternoon Shift and one for the Midnight Shift.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and uphold Riverside Natural Food’s Core Values.
- Direct and lead maintenance staff in everyday scheduling, preventative maintenance, and repair of all production equipment.
- Resolve equipment-related issues.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance team, Planner, and Parts Clerk to maintain equipment and parts inventory, minimizing downtime.
- Organize the Maintenance Workshop.
- Conduct major equipment repairs, overhauls, and rebuilding to ensure operational status, safety, and schedule adherence.
- Ensure staff are trained in health and safety standards and proper environmental practices.
- Embody adaptability and composure in times of volatility, uncertainty, and ambiguity.
- Provide support to the team across all weekdays and shifts as needed.
- Be an early adopter of new Maintenance strategies and initiatives.
- Utilize CMMS and provide feedback to enhance the Maintenance strategy.
- Develop and maintain a Continuous Improvement and Open mindset amongst technicians.
- Provide and document continuous feedback to technicians to develop skills and motivate them.
- Understand and lead compliance with Health and Safety and Food Safety practices.
- Inspect, maintain, adjust, and repair food processing equipment and machinery.
- Ensure Maintenance activities meet the required standards for precise, highly automated equipment.
- Ensure Maintenance TEAM members are responsive to production needs and equipment failures.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on complicated or recurring automation failure modes.
- Independently conduct/coordinate equipment set up and changeover.
- Conduct high-quality and documented Preventative and Reactive maintenance.
- Assist with Facilities renovation and maintenance as necessary.
- Test and observe equipment and machinery using tools to troubleshoot malfunctions and make repairs.
- Take ownership and work independently without supervision to meet tight deadlines.
- Prepare notes on learnings, contribute to procedures, and share observations and training with the broader maintenance team.
- Contribute to maintenance reports by collecting and summarizing information.
- Exemplify GRIT in resolving emergency repairs and troubleshooting.
- Create a harmonious and effective maintenance team.
- Record all maintenance and repair services performed, tracking materials and parts used.
- Demonstrate knowledge sharing by mentoring, training, and guiding junior and other Maintenance Technicians.
- Suggest and implement continuous improvement projects to improve equipment performance.
- Keep the work atmosphere FUN by keeping it light and welcoming.
- Technically assist with troubleshooting situations, evaluate and implement improvements to mitigate repeat issues.
- Perform regular technical and non-technical component monitoring, inspection, and repairs, including preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all work meets quality, contract response, and other requirements.
- Assist in the implementation of the preventative maintenance (PM) program.
- Ensure deficiencies are identified, recorded, and escalated, and that related documents are maintained.
- Ensure facilities are kept to GMP, CFIA, and BRC standards.
- Participate in preparation for audits and inspections.
- Exemplify RESPECT in working relationships with all Key Internal and External Stakeholders.
- Identify Gaps (Skills, Knowledge, Core Values) within the maintenance team and take appropriate steps to address them.
- Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping & safety in all aspects of the job.
- Demonstrate flexibility to work workday, afternoon, and night shifts temporarily to support production.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Collaborate with the planner to provide feedback, schedule, and prioritize related work orders.
- Ensure maintenance/service work is performed following GMP and food building compliance.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects as required.
- Assist in enhancing customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through a positive and enthusiastic work ethic.
- Contribute to and participate in Performance Assessments of other technicians.
- Document, coordinate, and facilitate efficient pre-shift and handover meetings to ensure smooth transitions between shifts.
Requirements
- Must have Industrial/Maintenance Electrician 422A and /or 309A.
- Working experience with equipment such as vertical wrapper, horizontal wrappers, robotics pickers and place, tunnel oven is an asset.
- Ability to read technical drawings, procedures, and electrical schematics.
- Hands-on work experience with power transmission systems, electric and electronic controls, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, welding, brazing, and soldering, servo and electric motors, and lubrication types and systems is preferred.
- Proven machining skills using lathes, milling, and drill press.
- Rigging and hoisting experience is an asset.
Skills
- Strong Electrical knowledge and experience.
- Balanced mechanical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional utilization of CMMS.
- Effective Trainer and Mentor.
- Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, Robotics, HMIs, and controls (Allen-Bradley and SIEMENS PLC’s) preferred.
