About the Role
Animal Specialty Center (ASC) is seeking compassionate and motivated Surgery Assistants to join our Surgery team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in veterinary surgery while working alongside experienced technicians, specialists, and surgeons in a fast-paced specialty environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surgical patients for procedures including clipping and cleaning surgical sites
- Safely handle and restrain surgical patients
- Perform laboratory diagnostics and assist with imaging procedures
- Transport patients safely between wards, treatment areas, and surgical suites
- Set up and prepare surgical suites for procedures
- Maintain proper handling of sterile equipment and supplies (Ability to perform aseptic and sterile techniques)
- Provide assistance to veterinarians and veterinary technicians during procedures
- Communicate with clients as directed
- Make and present estimates to clients for diagnostics, treatments, surgery and/or hospitalization
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Veterinary experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods
