About the Role

As a Medical Assistant in the Operating Room (OR), you will play a crucial role in supporting our physicians and clinical staff in delivering exceptional patient care. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks within the operating room environment, aimed at ensuring smooth operations and patient comfort throughout fertility procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing the operating room for procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are sterile and readily available.
  • Provide compassionate care and support to patients undergoing fertility procedures.
  • Assist physicians and clinical staff during fertility procedures, including egg retrieval and embryo transfer.
  • Maintain an inventory of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring they are properly sterilized, organized, and in good working condition.
  • Adhere to strict sterilization protocols and infection control measures to maintain a safe and hygienic operating room environment.
  • Accurately document patient information, procedure details, and any other relevant data in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
  • Remain vigilant and prepared to assist in emergency situations that may arise during procedures.
  • Stay informed about advances in fertility treatment techniques, surgical procedures, and best practices in operating room management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a medical assistant program preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience working in a surgical or procedural setting, preferably in a fertility clinic or reproductive medicine practice.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet software and proprietary software.
  • Ability to use spreadsheet and word processing programs at a highly proficient level.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Education Level

  • High school diploma or equivalent
