About the Role

This Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Graduate Programme offers a place for individuals with diverse academic backgrounds to build an exciting career in corporate banking. The CIB business is a leading banking operation providing 24-hour market coverage and a full suite of banking services. Participants will engage in fast-paced, collaborative projects, interact with global clients and colleagues, and develop innovative solutions. CIB focuses on managing HSBC’s largest clients and addressing complex strategic and capital market challenges, requiring dedication for significant rewards.

Responsibilities

  • Gain first-hand experience in how relationship managers and product specialists create innovative solutions for corporate and institutional clients.
  • Understand how to build trusted client relationships and learn about the breadth of products HSBC offers.
  • Observe how products are deployed into tailored solutions across multiple countries to meet client needs.
  • Learn how the bank manages risk associated with clients to ensure a sustainable business model.
  • Participate in on-the-job learning and structured development opportunities.
  • Develop a network of contacts within CIB and beyond.
  • Take part in sustainability initiatives, volunteering programs, and Diversity & Inclusion activities.
  • Engage with Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and common interest groups.

Requirements

  • Open to graduates in 2026, or recent graduates with 1-2 years of working experience.
  • Bachelor degree or above from a reputable university.
  • Fluent in English and Japanese, both written and verbal.
  • Candidates must choose to test in Japanese Language during the skills-based assessment.
  • Demonstrate passion, courage, dedication, and intellectual curiosity.
  • Ability to inspire, lead, manage, and listen effectively.
  • Skilled in prioritizing and managing time across multiple projects in a constantly changing market.
  • Adhere to rules and regulations.
  • Exhibit a collaborative attitude and openness to feedback.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to work effectively in different situations.
